This is a progress photo of my "Opus Magnum", a 40”x 60” canvas. The section I completed is a little less than 1/4th of the whole canvas. I'm working on it between other smaller projects because I don't have a deadline.
This piece is definitely a challenge for me due to its size and complexity but I'm enjoying the process very much.
Size: 40" x 60"
Medium: Prismacolor and Luminance colored pencils, Neocolor artist crayons
Tools: tortillions, paper stumps, color shapers
Surface: extra fine texture canvas primed with Art Spectrum Colourfix primer
Technique: Icarus Painting Board

Magnificent! I am going to have to figure out a way to see it in person before it goes to some lucky buyer - is home showing reception possible? I will bring the quiches!

Of course, Susan! I’d love to have you over. It will be a while but I think it will be worth your trip. :)

I am impressed that the vertical board can also be used on the tabletop. Seems like this is the one that I need to put on my bucket list. Is it the same price as the desk model?

Susan, the painting board is $389.00, 50 dollars more than the large Icarus drawing board. If and when you decide to buy it, please check with me before.

I am wondering how you can draw with cp on canvas. How do you prepare it? What
is your procedure? I have been a cp artist for over 20 years and certainly interested
in your procedure. I have the large size of your light box and enjoy working with it.

Hi DJ, I use a canvas with extra fine texture and prime it with two coats of clear Art Spectrum Colourfix Multimedia primer: http://www.dickblick.com/products/art-spectrum-pastel-and-multimedia-primer/
This primer allows colored pencils and wax crayons like Neocolor to adhere to the canvas. The canvas (rolled, not stretched) can then be placed over the Icarus board.
When finished I mount the canvas on Claybord. I will have a post or video on this subject soon.
